  • What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person before, during and after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
  • What are the benefits of having a Doula?
Countless scientific trials examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both the birthing person and baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family.
  • What type of training do you have?
Both Domonique and Sharde' are trained through DONA International
  • How do you involve and include my spouse/partner?
A Doula DOES NOT take the place of your partner. We support the birthing person and their partner with skills, knowledge, and experience. Your spouse/partner will be included in every step and given an opportunity for active recovery + rest during labor support.
  • What if I go into labor before or after your "on-call" time?
Myself and/or my backup will make every attempt to support you and get to you as soon as we are able. I will provide phone/text/video support as much as possible when the technology is available. Anything that results in our absence at your birth will be addressed on a case-by-case basis and may result in a partial refund.
  • What if I give birth before you arrive?
If a failure to attend your birth is due to a rapid labor (baby is born less than 60 minutes after you call me and ask me to come, we will provide one additional 2-hour postpartum visit.
  • How many clients do you take on at once?
We take on two clients per month.
  • Do you have references that I can speak with?
Yes! We would be happy to connect you with past clients for a reference.
  • Can you help with breastfeeding/bodyfeeding?
Yes, we can offer lactation support for latching or pumping. We can also connect you with referrals to a lactation counselor. We assist with hand expression, manual breast pumps, and electric pumps.
  • In what stage of my pregnancy should I hire a doula?
A doula can support you in any stage of your pregnancy but contacting your doula early allows you enough time to explore your options for the best birthing experience.
  • Do I have to book birth and postpartum services together?
No, you are welcome to book us separately for doula services. We just want to make sure you have the birthing experience you desire and your family receives guidance + support.
